Inspiration: A vortex is an energy spiral of powerful intensity, attracting and drawing in everything in its environment. Life has moments of transformation, when energy attracts every single element, forcing transition and great change. The result is passion, inspiration, expression and renewed hope.
Message: Hope should be a feeling always present in human beings – if it is not, nothing can make sense. Life is an enormous field of possibilities. We, as humans, embrace the opportunity to explore, to capture every wonder we find, to enrich our moment.
Explanation: A series of twelve pieces depicting the development of union, movement, explosion and – finally – the diffusion of elements flowing unendingly in the wonderful, creative experience. In every piece, the collection presents elements in disorder (which represents life’s options), formed by energy in a centrifugal, flowing movement. The phenomenon carries through the series, creating the vortex and climax of inspiration, and then allowing the opportunities to begin the process again.
Materials: Cement built with gesso and sea sand, on canvas. Every piece has a different pattern but all are connected in form as a vortex is created and subsides in a repetitive cycle. Line is replaced by an organic flowing and swirling texture. The color is a vibrant, bold and dramatic red, in contrast with an underlying subtle but strong darker red, emphasizing the textures. It is a composition of passion.
With the intention of exploring the principles of architecture, I set out to discover their possibilities from the canvas by clearly applying simple spatial phenomena into a bidimensional plane.
A tribute to the Gay community; the community that historically has fought against the contempt of society, without ever having renounced to its essence and fought throughout the years against society’s historical norms.
This collection, still in the creation stage, and personally I think it will take some years to cover such a controversial and complex issue.
Shows the ties to which each person is confronted by morality, norms, society, religion and family. That in an almost magical way they disappear in the moment in which, through practices such as bondage, they give themselves in confidence to the dominant person and flow freely.
The dominant figure in this collection is always represented by the red color and there is a subtle race approximation in the submissive figures.
In the gay community there are no genders, races, social or economic classes, religions or nationalities that do not go through the suffering of the knots of oppression
